The 2002 Pommard Clos des Epeneaux does not quite match the previous vintage. It has a stern, earthy, tobacco-scented bouquet with touches of small dark cherries and potpourri, followed by a scent of iodine. The palate is sweet on the entry with well-judged acidity and comes across as quite feminine, a trait more evident in subsequent vintages. It feels natural and concludes with a delicate touch of spice that lingers in the mouth. This is very fine. Drink now-2018+.
