Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine de la Vougeraie has a more introspective bouquet than Bouchard Père & Fils' Clos Vougeot 2012: dried leaves and black truffle, even a touch of ash infusing the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a pastille-like purity and good acidity. There is substance to this Clos Vougeot although there is some tarry oak that dried out the finish a little, something that I did not detect on previous bottles, hence my question mark.
