Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts has a modern nose that is showing quite a lot of quality new oak at the moment, although there seems to be sufficient fruit underneath. The palate is chewy on the entry with thick tannin, broad-shouldered with a lot of substance, but at the expense of requisite finesse and tension. I was surprised at the decadence of this Petits-Monts given its more restrained showing from barrel. It feels a little glossy at the moment so I would give it 2-3 years. Tasted September 2016.
