The 2016 Chambolle-Musigny was reduced by 40% of production this harvest, withplots closer to Morey-Saint-Denis less affected by frost than others. Now this is much more promising than the Bourgogne Rouge, replete with lively red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, not powerful but delicate. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, a fine bead of acidity, what you might describe as a “transparent†Chambolle-Musigny with fine tension and a sense of stoniness on the finish. Classic from start to finish, drink this over the next 7 to 10 years.
