The 2011 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru has a refined bouquet, quite powerful with intense citrus and green apple aromas, a pleasant flintiness coming through with aeration although I felt there is a veneer of new oak to be completely assimilated. The palate is fresh and lively on the entry with a lovely salinity from start to the slightly reduced finish. There is a ton of potential here, a great wine from Benjamin Leroux, although I would be inclined to give it another couple of years in bottle. Tasted September 2016.
